Bach/Gounod: Ave Maria transcribed for organ

$5.00

The famous Bach/Gounod Ave Maria, transcribed for organ by James Kennerley.

Based on the Prelude in C, BWV 846 from Das wohltemperierte Klavier by Johann Sebastian Bach (1685–1750), the work was adapted by Charles Gounod (1818–1893), and published in 1853 as Méditation sur le Premier Prélude de Piano de J.S. Bach. He later made another arrangement in 1859 at which time the melody was set to the familiar words of the "Ave Maria" . This transcription takes advantage of the orchestral possibilities of the organ and is based on the full orchestral version.
